Fursuit updates

It's been a very long time since I last did a fursuit update. I had to go through my previous entries to see what I had mentioned and what I haven't! Well.. Here we go.

Hands paws completed! The pawpads were made from Dream Vision Creations. They're super comfy to wear!

Body suit is nearly complete. You can see the butt swirl in these pictures. I need to add a little bit of gray to the front and then finish adding the red belly.
Still working on the head. But so far, I'm very pleased with it! I I was working on her ears last night and they're almost done. But I went in and added a little bit of dry brushing around her eyes. I got some more red fur from a friend, so hopefully I can get her done by new years!

Fursuit Update 6/2/13

Can you believe it's June already? This year seems to be flying by.

I have a few fursuit updates this week. I made a lot of progress this week and I should be able to finish my fursuit by the end of this month (minus pawpads).

First of all, all four paws are done. They just need pawpads. I want to order those on the 14th. Hopefully I'll be able to. If not, I'll order them in July.

The tail is almost finished. I still need to close the opening of the tail. But here's a picture of it.

The inside of the tail is stuffed with a pool noodle with a tapered end and polyfil stuffing. It give its a study base, but is still soft.

Next up, the head is being worked on. After looking it over, I noticed a few things I was unhappy with. One of them happened to be the eyes. They looked too wide. I wanted a calmer expression, so I broke out my clay and paint and fixed the eyelids.
She looks less excited now, which is good. I did't want my fursuit to have a 'stare into your soul' look.
The other thing that bothered me: the ears. The shape looks alright, but the placement seemed off. I removed the ears and I'll be sewing them on again after I add the next.

But for now, here are a few shots of my mask.

Crappy cellphone quality.

But it gives you an idea of how it looks so far! I did a little bit of dry brushing for the first time. It's pretty fun, and I may have to experiment with it more in the future. Right now, there's only some brushing around the eyes and on the nose.

I should have brushed out the back a bit. Oops. It's just a matter of adding on the neck now, though.

And finally, the last thing I've done for my fursuit lately....

I made my duct tape dummy and cut out the back pieces of the bodysuit and the legs. I need to cut out the markings and the arms still.

My sewing machine was taken in for repairs on Thursday. I'm not sure when I'll get it back. But until I do, I wont be able to sew up the body suit. But I'll continue cutting out the pieces. I'll probably do that Tuesday after work. Today and tomorrow, I plan on drawing and getting a few things finished up.

This is all. More updates to come next Sunday.

Fursuit Updates 5/26/13

It's been a long time since I posted updates for my fursuit. Woops.
I've been working on it very slowly.

Anyway, some updates for you all. The feet are about 99% done. I'm gonna order some pawpads from DreamVisionCreations once I get some more money. Here are some pics...

I haven't been super great about getting pictures. But here are my fursuit feet during the furring process. The foot is pretty simple. I placed a shoe on top of two layers of foam ad drew out some toes. I cut them out and glued them to the shoes.
Once the toes were all glued on, I taped up the feet from the ankles to the toes. I cut off the gray first, since it was easier than the red.

Once the toes were cut out and sewn, I attached them to the gray part of the foot and slipped them onto the shoe. I did a bit of brushing before I shaved them. The red fur was super super long.

I shaved the bottom of the feet and the toes so that the shape stands out a bit more. The ankles were a trapezoid piece, 4 inches tall, 15 wide on the bottom, and then 11 inches wide at the top. It was a tight fit getting the shoe back in, but I got it. XD

The tail is nearly finished. I sewed it up for a furmeet, then found a brilliant idea to keep it firm and not so floppy.

One handpaw is almost finished. The other needs to be pinned before I can sew it. I also need pawpads for the hands. Onceagain, I'm ordering some from DreamVisionCreations.

The head is close to being finished. I need to fix the back of the head and then attach the neck. And then my partial will be finished.

Project Updates 2/25/13

I got lazy yesterday and I didn't bother to update this. Oops.

I added the fur to the head and got it glued on.

And here it is partially shaved down.

I won't be working on the fursuit this week. I'm going to take a break for a bit and focus just on art and work. So no updates next week.
I still need to shave the head down a little bit more and I need to fix the mask. The jaw doesn't open anymore unless i hold on tight to the head. I think it has to do with the balaclava. I think I put it in weird.. Hmm..

Project Updates 2/17/13

Yay, new update.
I got a lot done this past week.

First of all, I got the eyes installed and added eyelids and lips. Top picture shows the eyes glowing. Bottom picture shows the eyes off.
I'm sad that I didn't take more pictures. But a friend of mine asked me to stream some fursuit work. During the stream I made the ears and padded out the face a little bit. I also added some buckram into the nose to keep people from being able to see my face through there.
After all that, I attached the balaclava to the inside of the mask and made a duct tape dummy for the head.

Since then, I have sewn up the pieces to the mask. I made a small error I'm trying to fix... But once it is fixed, I'll be able to glue the fur down, attach the neck, and shave the face.

I also started on the handpaws. The pieces for both paws are cut out and pinned. I'll finish the mask before I start sewing them. All I need to order now are the pawpads for all four paws.

And this is everything. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Keep your eyes open for updates next Sunday.

Project Updates 2/9/13

I have more updates for my fursuits! Yay!

I got my resin blank today, so I've been working in for the past several hours. I ordered a blank, teeth, tongue, and LED eyes from DreamVisionCreations. If anyone was thought about ordering from them, do it!! My items are amazing! I've only had problems with the eyes so far (getting them to stay in place).

But as promised, here are some pictures!

Top: The LED eyes. They're purple!
Bottom: The blank, teeth, tongue and eyes with the LEDs off.

Here's the mask with the mouth installed and elastics added! There's just enough room for my glasses with this mask.
And here's the nose! I painted it pink then added a little bit of glaze to keep the paint from chipping. :)

I attempted to add the eyes, but the heat from the hot glue made the paint peel off. I forgot to add glaze.. Oops. I repainted them and the glaze has been added. Tomorrow night I'll be adding the eyes and then I'll start working on the ears. Monday I'll pad out my mask a little bit.

I'm hoping that Tuesday I'll be able to start on the pattern. By March, I'd like to have the the mask completely done. But we'll see what happens. Especially with work and stuff.
And this is everything I have to update... I'll try to post a new entry every Sunday to show progress of my fursuit! c:

Project Updates 2/1/13

-Squeeeee- I got my fur today~ *Rolls in it*

I did not stream my fursuit feet like I promised. I ended up working on the privately, and they're now all foamed. I'm going to work on my tail test, and once the pattern has been perfected, I'll set the full tail.

Once the tail is all finished, I'll make a pattern for the feet, test the pattern, then fur it.

I'm still waiting for the stuff for the head to get here. According to DVC, I'll get an e-mail when everything is sent out. Once it gets here, I'll be able to work on my head.

I'm planning on ordering pawpads soon, too. I would like to order those as soon as I can so that I can have them when I'm done with the head. It'll take at least 3 weeks for them to get here. But I'm excited!

Hopefully I can  get some pictures of something interesting soon. c:

Project Updates 1/24/13

I've made some progress on my fursuit already.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday working on a tail pattern for my fursuit. It consists of about 13 pieces. Sunday or Monday I will but cutting out the pieces for a test tail. If it looks good once it's all sewn, I'll keep the pattern.

I also made a pattern for my handpaws. And, much like the tail pattern, I will testing it out next week (possibly on Tuesday).

Tomorrow I will be working on feet. I'll also be streaming! A link will be posted on my dA page. The stream will start at 11 AM Mountain time, and I'm not sure how long it will last.

Tonight, my buckram arrived for my fursuit eyes. I'm still waiting on the stuff for my head to arrive. I'm hoping it will be here Saturday. Fingers crossed!

But for now, here is a list of what I will be doing with an estimated time of when I will do them.

Sunday: Tail test

Monday: Art day

Tuesday: Paw test

Wednesday: Art day

Thursday: Eyes and elastics

Friday: Art day

Saturday: Head

Now, this is not set in stone. Monday I get my new work schedule. Any days that I have work, I may not work on my fursuit. And if something takes me longer to do, it delays everything else.

The cost of fur is going to be $106 + shipping. After I get it, I will be able to do the tail, paws, and the head. I'm going to be selling a few things to earn some money for the materials. I may not be able to buy them until mid February.

I'm also going to be buying some silicone paw pads. Those will be $70 and I won't be able to get those until March or possibly even April. But, I am absolutely excited.

And this is all I have to say for tonight. Thank you for reading! You can expect to see photos of my tests next week. c:

Project Updates 1/22/13

Just some project updates for you all...

First of all, I got the supplies for the head all ordered. I'm waiting on everything to show up though. I have some of the materials in my possession, but others are still being made.

I'm also waiting on fabric samples still. I got my samples from Mendel's, but I'm waiting for the ones from DF. After doing the math, the cost of fur will be around $105 (not including shipping).

I have everything ready to make the feetpaws (minus the fur, of course), so I may start on those pretty soon to pass the time until the other materials get here. I struggle with them, so it'll be good to take my time with everything.

And that is all I have to say in regards to my fursuit. Pictures will hopefully come soon.

Project

Every winter, i go through a depressed phase. But I've found, over the years, having a project helps me get my mind off it. December I focus on Christmas gifts and in February, Valentine pictures. But in January, I have nothing.

This year, I found a project to work on. I'm going to build a fursuit! This is not my first one. I've built a few others in the past... But this one is going to be different. I won't exactly say how, but I'm excited to see the finished product. I will be posting WIP pictures here.

I'm going to be buying materials one at a time because I don't have a ton of money. But below you can see my goals and how close I am to buying everything. :)

Details
$0/$53

Base
$0/$125

Extras
$0/$15

Fur
Still deciding on fur.

And this is just for the hands, head, and tail. Not the feet. That will come later, along with the DTD.
So before I can even begin furring, I need almost $200. Golly.
It'll take me at least 3 weeks to get the details and the base. Extras will only be about a week. But I ordered some free fur samples! That's exciting. c:

And this is all. Keep your eyes open! I will try to post a weekly update on things, but I don't know if that will happen.
